• Etienne Uzac

Etienne Uzac is a seasoned media entrepreneur with a wealth of experience in print and digital media. His journey began with his relocation from Santiago, Chile, to South Africa and France, marking the beginning of his globetrotting adventures. After completing his high school education at Lycée Stanislas Paris in France, Etienne pursued higher studies at The London School of Economics and Political Science. Following his educational endeavors, Etienne made his way to New York and became an integral member of the International Business Times (IBT) founding team. In 2006, IBT was established as a digital media company in New York, providing all-digital business news coverage to various countries. As the company grew, it rebranded to IBT Media and expanded its portfolio by introducing additional brands such as Medical Daily, Latin Times, and Player. One, and Fashion Times.

Building upon the success and growth of IBT, Etienne spearheaded the successful acquisition of Newsweek Magazine by IBT in 2013. In a strategic move, he relocated to Newsweek's offices in Downtown New York, embarking on a journey to revitalize the publication. Etienne and the IBT team made significant investments in the development and expansion of Newsweek, transforming it from an e-magazine to a comprehensive news website hosted at its original domain, newsweek.com. They also reintroduced the print edition, attracting significant attention to Newsweek's editorial content and ultimately achieving profitability by the end of 2014. Throughout this period, IBT experienced remarkable growth under Etienne's leadership, capitalizing on proprietary technologies that provided a competitive edge in digital publishing. The company's commitment to excellence led to recruiting top-tier journalists and attaining numerous accolades, including six SABEWs, one Izzy, and three The Drum Online Media Awards.
